Study in Panama
If you are a college student and would like to spend a few semesters
in Panama, you can study at several US universities in Panama including
Florida State University for undergraduate (associate and baccalaureate)
programs, and University of Louisville or NOVA SouthEastern University
for graduate (masters) programs.
Florida State University (FSU), Panama
Canal branch is the university that we consider to be the most advanced
in Panama. It is accredited by the Commission
on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to offer
Associate and Baccalaureate degrees with various majors.
The classes are all taught in English by US professors and all
credits are transferable to other universities in the USA. All faculty at FSU-Panama hold advanced degrees and teach in their
area of specialization. They offer many core courses that lead to majors
in many different areas as well as preparing the foundation for careers
in Medicine, Law and Engineering. Each course is identical to that offered
at the main campus in Florida. FSU was established in Panama initially as a college for the US
military to attend classes at for furthering their education. However, the canal employees, and
Panamanians began attending and since then, FSU has grown into a full
fledged campus in the canal zone of Panama City, offering 4 year degrees
for students from around the world. The FSU campus was previously the campus of Panama Canal
College (PCC), and when the Panama Canal was turned over to Panama
in the year 2000, FSU took over the PCC campus. The campus is located right on the
water of the Panama Canal, underneath the Bridge of the Americas
crossing the canal so students watch the ships go through the
canal every day as they attend classes. You can actually see the swell indicator coming into the Pacific
coast from the campus. The FSU campus has excellent housing, library and athletic facilities
as well as a large auditorium for special events. These facilities provide
students with every opportunity to become part of the FSU-Panama community.
The campus has full sport facilities including indoor air conditioned
weight lifting gym (with all of the newest equipment), indoor basketball
gym, tennis courts, volley ball courts, football field, soccer field,
aerobics, etc. If you would like more information about
FSU in Panama, you can see their website at http://www.fsu.edu/~cppanama/
